No.19
this is not really an ID... One pic of hospital ship Graz, ex-Greek training sailship, was on sale on Ebay last year. Can anyone please repost it? Many thanks...

Plus one more question:Feldgrau.com mentions the following special tenders/motherships in KM. What kind of smaller ships they were tending or mothering to?
Beglietschiffe Eismeer
Mutterschiffe Fram
Beglietschiffe Hummer
Beglietschiffe Koralle
Begleitschiffe Krebs
Begleitschiffe Melpomene
Mutterschiffe Süderau

Yes, that's she. The puzzle is, the website says it was a Uboat tender, but Wikipedia and Feldgrau and any other sites did not mention this ship among KM u-tenders. Was she actually classified by the KM as such, or was she officially classified as sth else, e.g. a barracks/target ship for U-flottille?

HEINZ HORN was renamed in HEINZ 1939. 24.11.39 mobilised to serve as tender in various U-boat units, mostly 24 U-Fl.
"Beglietschiffe Eismeer" - Groener say it was ex. WANDRAHM, ex SHIFF 4, ex. V.1801, served in 61 V-Fl under name V.6114 EISMEER from 1940. This is error in some way. ex. WANDRAHM still under name SCHIFF 4 entered 61 V-Fl only in 1943, being repaired in Tromso. Her repair ended only in middle of 1944 and then V.6114 begin ordinary escort work.

Thank you for the information! A photo of schiff 4 later V6114 is now on tsushima.ru, it's kind of surprise to see ex-cargo ship like this got commissioned as a vorpostenboot, as usually VPs were trawler/whaler-sized vessels, and sometimes even as small as a big motorboat, as some in northern Italy. It's very interesting to know such big VPs or the special motherships.

Would you be willing to share the drawing of Netzlager VII Eggeroe with me?

Hi John!

Here is the drawing of Netzleger VII Eggeroy. The source is a Finnish magazine called Laiva ("The Ship") number 4/2006, published by Finnish Ship Historical Association.
The original drawing is about the size of a matchbox, so the quality of the picture is poor.

Thanks, Pekka.

Anyone know the length and beam? I searched the web yesterday and came up empty on dimensions; laid, commissioned, requisitioned, etc, yes, but no dimensions.

Hi john!

Now I found the original dimensions of these netlayers as seagoing barges, do not know how much they changed as netlayers.
My source is the same as the drawing.

2121 grt, 1789 nrt, 3664 dwt, 92,10 x 13,50 x 6,30 meters
