M 122 as S-boat tender?

M 122 as S-boat tender?

Hello people, I've encountered this interesting part of history. An auction on Ebay shows a photo of 2 M1916 boats, one is M 89, the other purportedly M 122. Surprisingly, the M 122 had a silver grey painting, which is very ususual. Some M1916 boats-turned tenders, test ships etc. had silver grey painting, but those remaining as minesweepers only had black painting or camouflage. A little search finds a website saying M 122 once served as a S-boat tender. If this is correct, then it explains the grey painting, but raises the question why M 122 didn't receive a name, because all other known tenders converted from M1916-class had names: "Raule", "Brommy", "Nettelbeck", "Von der Lippe" etc.. Anyone has information about this boat? Thanks a lot!!! :D

Another question is regarding the ship Marburg, which in 1945 became a hospital ship. During the time between her seizure by KM in April 1944 and conversion to hospital ship in Jan.1945, she was said to have been a tender under admiral der Uboote. My question is, whether she was a U-boot-Begleitschiff or a U-boot-Tender? (The Kriegsmarine seems to use the 2 terms as different types, the former refers to ships like "Saar" and "Waldemar Kophamel", the latter ships like "Mosel" and "Warnow")
