Guys
If I remember right Helmuth Brinkmann and Ernst Lindemann were friends and Classmates at the Naval School. But did ever hear about Bismarck Bring sank and did he ever do an interview for that?

Hello Mak Los Mien Schnitzel,

May I ask you, where you've got these photos of Alois Söberl from? He is my grandfather. I know my grandmother sold some of his old photos and the documents above to a guy from Austria. So, I was very surprised to find a picture of him on the internet and especially in an international forum. I hope you dont get me wrong. I have absolutely no problem with them being on the internet.

And I am sorry, neither I can tell you why my grandfather got these "Abzeichen". He died in 1997. But my uncle told me he believes that everyone got these.

Regards, Carola

Very nice photos. :D
Some time ago I picked up a small photo lot which belonged to a crewman aboard the Prinz Eugen.
I hope Mak Los Mein Schnitzel doesn't mind me posting a few photos here rather than start a new thread.

It seems he was aboard the Prinz Eugen during Operation Cerebus.
At some time he transfered to coastal duties.

Here is the first photo.

Now it gets a little more interesting. Here is a photo of some of his crewmates. The guy at the back with a cross above his head was killed by British air attack on the 12.2.1942 during Operation Cerebus. See links here: http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=90

About that aircraft.
It is Blenheim Mk IV Z6163 from No. 500 (County of Kent) Squadron RAF Coastal command. Blenheims were used by this unit from april to november 1941. Photo of the aircraft you posted is at high tide on the beach at Saint Michel en Grève/Saint Efflam Brittany. Z6163 is believed to be the first operational loss from RAF Harrowbeer in Devon, south west England, 500Sq was operating a detachment from the newly built airfield, having arrived on the 15th sept and leaving on the 6th Oct. Aircraft was salvaged by luftwaffe crew from airfield Morlaix

Blenheim Mk IV:
serial: Z6163
code: MK-U - No.500 Squadron RAF of Coastal Command
Crew of 3 POW:
Pilot Officer Reece Francis - Service No. 402214 RNZAF
Sergeant Smyth William Henry - Service No. 982670 RAF
Sergeant Appleyard James Douglas - Service No. R/68131 RCAF

Shot down on raid on St.Nazaire on the night 28./29. September 1941. Basicly damaged by FLAK over St. Nazaire which pierced fuel tanks and after some time crew mistakenly beliving they are over England performed emergency landing on the beach at Saint Michel en Grève/Saint Efflam Brittany (at low tide) and in process managed to take of part of the roof from ms. Leduc house. Immediatly after emergency landing germans from 2 close FLAK units started search for the crew but with help from ms. Leduc (which hid them in bathroom) they managed to escape and with french help evaded germans for 6 weeks. They were captured by GeStaPo in Nantes while waiting for departure to Spain on 10th of October 1941. Based on that I rather doubt that RAF crewmembers seen in some of the photos posted were from this aircraft.

There is rather good amount of information and additional photos (by german salvage crew) of this aircraft and it's crew (including about evasion and capture) in french here:

This Photograph titled destroyer escorts, is actually 2 K class light cruisers taken from the stern area of either the Liepzig or Nuremburg as all 3 of the K class ships had squared off sterns.

and the 5.9 inch triple turret on the ship the photo was taken from is on the center line of the ship. They were offset on the K class.
Shoot till You see the Whites of their tails.
