Thank all of you gentlemen for the compliments and the additional excellent information.

I cannot take credit for the list as it was given to a friend of mine who is good friends with all the surviving comrades of U 181. I believe this list was given to him by Karl Kaiser, who is also a holder of the German Cross im Gold.

I have to add that one other crewmember is a casualty. I do not know his name but, a crewman fell overboard during a storm in 1944. His body was never recovered.

Dear Rolf,

I've read your excellent article on U-181, and hopefully you could help me out.
Im currently on a project to find all relevent info on the wehrmacht/kriegmarine activities in Singapore. All of which will then be presented to the Singapore Museum whom ive already contacted. My collection of authentic U-Boat badges & Wehrmacht awards will also be shown !!!

As such could you get in touch with your friend who is close with the crew men of U-181???

I would love to talk to them via phone if possible.

What i need are pictures/ charts /maps/ but most of all first hand accounts by the crewmen of U-181.

Thank You In Advanace!!!

Cheers,
Ibrahim,
Singapore.

Hello, I've been doing casual research on U-181 to learn more about my grandfathers military past. His name is Werner Holscher. He also appears on some crew lists as Heinrich.I've found information from some of the more easily finable sites but I was hoping anyone who had any further information on the crew or boat could share some of that with me. Also I have come across some of the pictures of the men in singapore, if there are more pictures I would love to know?

My friend Edgar served on both U650 and U901. Where can one find a crew list for these boats? Lucky Edgar had an accident prior to U650 leaveing for it's last patrol or he wouldn't be here today. Is there an archive someplace with the crew lists?

Thank you very much on that info. I just called edgar about the lists. It doesn't give his rank on either list but on U650 he was an obergefeiter and when asigned to U901 he was made a maat. after recovering from his accident he was sent to school for more training and then made a maat
