hi, Mark,

don´t you think you are going a little bit sub-standard with that, compared to other questions ?

it is impssible to give so stupid (sorry) questions. Are we here in the kindergarten (nursery school, infant school). Colleague, strictly you a little of. If you do not want to ask one more question, then you pull back. We can still do without your kind of people. Sorry for my words.

You have no idea who I am and your reactions are completey unnecesary, if you think the question is easy then answer it and provide a difficult one in response. The offensive back chat is uncalled for and I would appreciate if everyone acted the the normal well behaved manner that they normally do.

Kind regards,

Mark

OK , let´s play it strictly "by the book" ...

the answer is: German battleship SCHARNHORST, sunk Dec 26, 1943, personnel losses amounted to 1932 dead, among them Rear Admiral Bey, 36 survivors were saved from the near-freezing temperature water by British destroyers.

hi,

let´s try something more difficult, but not too much so.

Three successfull AMC (Hilfskreuzer) captains (all decorated with Knight´s Cross, promoted to Rear Admiral during the war) had a very similar experience before the war. That was ... ?

hi, Mark,

and what was - in your opinion - their very similar experience ? (by the way: no, one name´s wrong)

--Just a guess. Could it be that they all served in the navies of the Empire, the Republic and the Third Reich? That's one shared similar experience for them.

hi, Galahad,

your guess - as such - is correct, of course.

But my question aims - perhaps I should have expressed that more clearly - at a nearly equal and very special experience (in a position with responsibility) during the last years before the war.

Well, you have me, PB. That was all I could think of as a shared experience--except decorations, and I didn't think they were what you had in mind.

Unless the other two were, like Rogge, in command of training; he commanded the sailing school ship Albert Leo Schlageter, but what the others commanded, I dunno.

02.38 - 09.39 - FK Rogge (Bernhard)
01.44 - 11.44 - KzS Asmus
11.44 - vacant
04.45 - end - KL Reckhoff

your "shot in the dark" was a Bull´s Eye

the "similar experience" in a position of responsibility was ... command of a Sail Training Ship !

In 1939,
Bernhard Rogge (Atlantis) commanded, as you said, the ALBERT LEO SCHLAGETER,
Otto Kähler (Thor) commanded the GORCH FOCK,
and Kurt Weyher (Orion) commanded the HORST WESSEL

well done and over to you
