Friedrich Christiansen

Postby Marcus Wendel on 12 Jun 2005 19:51

Has anyone got any additional information on the Freikrops activites of NSFK-Korpsführer & General der Flieger Friedrich Christiansen?

Gregvan in the Aerodrome wrote:"Christiansen's service record, reproduced in 'Die Generale der deutschen Luftwaffe, 1935-1945' has him serving in the Loewenfeld Brigade from April 13, 1919 to January 21, 1920 as Staffelfuehrer and pilot; however, I've never had any luck finding out about his individual exploits, or for that matter, the activities of the Staffel.

'The Loewenfeld Brigade, on the other hand, was a major Freikorps unit and was very active in the fighting around Germany during that period. They were a major component in the forces that put down the Red rebellion in the Ruhr following the March 1920 Kapp Putsch. By then, in theory, at least, Christiansen would have been gone."

Thanks.

3. Marine-Brigade von Löwenfeld also fought in Berlin and Silesia. It numbered some 6,000 men in 1919 and seems a minature army in itself---2 Marine Regiments,1 Sturm Bataillon,a sharpshooter company, field and mountain artillery,an armoured car company, pioneers, plus a Flieger Abteilung.

Christiansen may have been involved in the Upper Silesian fighting 16-23 August 1919 that involved Freikorps Löwenfeld.

You can not link directly to a picture in the "Beeldbank".
Just post the picture or say what you searched for (and for instance the page of the picture).
Greetings Jack.
