Servus Ken,

The Austrian Bundesheer wore uniforms in Feldgrau. Many of the Austrian tunics were converted and used by the Wehrmacht during the war.

Here's a portrait of an Austrian Bundesheer Soldat before the Anschluss:

A converted Austrian tunic used by a Gebirgsjäger, note the Austrian scalloped pockets:

And here's an Austrian summer weight tunic, oatmeal in color, that I have in my collection:

Hello ,

was the field grey the same one introduced in WW1? Did the Austrians wear puttees or short anklet gaiters in 1938?

Hello Gentlemen!

Here's a link to an older thread with photographs of soldiers and NCO's belonging the Austrian Bundesheers Alpenjäger-Regiment 9, stationed in Steiermark (Styria). The photograps are from the mid-thirites and have unfortunately been a little bit cropped since I posted them some five years ago but still...

Hello,

are there any coloured illustrations of the 1933-38 Austrian army?

What colour were their helmets in 1938 , WW1 brown or German grey?

LIFE pictures by Hugo Jäger contains lots of 1938 Austrian uniform photos. Here are some examples:

@ Bergführer: I am very much in doubt, that the fieldblouse (Feldbluse) you show in the last picture is original: Especially the colours of the ranks are strange: red (artillery) on the shoulders and green (light, Jäger) on the collar?
