1st Independent Mixed Brigade reformed?

Postby shidan on 10 Jul 2012 19:04

Does anyone know if the 1st Ind. Mixed Brigade was reformed in the late 30s/early 40s? I am studying a techo that has the soldier being a part of the 1st ind. inf. regiment with the 1st IMB (in 1937), but then one of my references states that the 1st IMB consisted of several Independent Infantry Battalions (170th 171st, 172nd.....as of late 1941). Also, what year was the 1st IMB formed? Thanks for any help with this.

1st Ind. Mixed Brigade was raised in 1934 and was disbanded in Aug 1938. This was a mobile brigade of tank and infantry.
This number was reused in Jul 1939 for a typical ind. mixed brigade, infantry battalions and weak support elements.

1st ind. inf. was renamed as 88th infantry regiment in Oct 1938. After long service in Soviet border, in 1945 the regiment moved to Taiwan. A part of them defended Pagan Island since Feb 1944 (arrived in Mar).
