Japanese military marches ?
I know there are many WW2 German military marches, propoganda songs, etc, but what about Japanese ones ?
That is, i've never heard 'em. Can u give me a link to some of their ww2 military marches/songs (if there are some free ones available on net) ? Or at least, give me some names of those songs, so i can find them myself

Here's a cover of the Gunkan March by a German military band. It's the best version I've ever heard. They almost make it their own.

Gunkan March by JMSDF Kure Band
Kimigayo March -> Army Drill March by JGSDF 1st band
Army Drill March by JGSDF, in JSDF Music Festival
These three are the best known as marches.
You know many pieces have been removed from youtube inspite of the fact thay they pay to copyright organzations for musics users upload. Player (performer) also has their rights so they check uploading of brand-new recording and claim on them. The right expires after all so referring prewar recording would be safe.
Aikoku Koshinkyoku(Patriotic March) by Army Toyama School Band (recorded before 1945)
Army Drill March by army unknown band, prepared for the primary school education in wartime Japan
Gunkan March by navy unknown band (wartime recording)
Taiheiyo Koshinkyoku (March of the Pacific Ocean) by navy unknown band (wartime recording)

Re: Japanese military marches ?
The theme from the Gunkan March appears in several of the Victory at Sea musical pieces. After all these years, it's nice to learn the name of that march!
Re: Japanese military marches ?
While we're on the subject, does anyone know the name of the song that is played as the Japanese parade through Singapore in the World At War episode entitled 'Banzai!- Japan Strikes'? I've searched for years for that song but it's remained elusive.

Hi Lawlence,
It was 'シンガポール陥落の歌'(Singapole kanraku no uta = the fall of Singapole), made after the fall. Recorded in 1942 coupled with news tape for propaganda. A few other propaganda song on this event with similar name and content also seemed recorded in 1942.

Hisashi, I think I love you man. I've searched for that song for literally over ten years. Thank you so much. I can finally scratch this itch.hisashi wrote:Hi Lawlence,

Dear Hisashi and Lawrence
I have also been looking for this song (Singpole kanraku no uta) for a very long time. I love the tune. Can you at all help me with the anglicised lyrics by any chance?
Also, where could I obtain a cd or something that might have this tune on it?
Kind regards
Markus
