Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
As Bill doesn't, I upload a photo, instead.
A few months ago, an interesting photo was sold at eBay.
It is Experimental 10cm SP Gun. Two Type 95 Heavy Tanks were converted to SP guns. One was Ji-Ro and another is Experimental 10cm SP Gun. They were experimental only and not produced.
An article on these SP guns will be published on coming Armour Modelling Magazine. The photos including it will be featured in the article.

That is a great photo! The camoflage looks different from the original on the Type 95, but the gun shield is bare metal.

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
Hi luftflotte2:
Sorry for the long time to reply. I have had many, many problems getting a proper prescription for new eye glasses, both for long distance and for the computer for now over 2 months and it just seemed to have gotten solved last week. My computer glasses got completely destroyed so it has been very difficult to use the computer until they were replaced.
Before posting photos, I need to mention that I do not collect anything on armoured vehicles, half tracks or motorcycles. My main concentration has always been on wheeled vehicles and for the last many years, mainly on captured/impressed/confiscated civilian type cars and trucks. So, that is most of what I will post here. I hope they are of use to you as I see you have done a lot of research on the subject.

Good thing that was resolved! These are great pictures. Comparing with the 1935 Ford you posted, are these also Fords?

Hi luftflotte2.
Your first vehicle is a 1938 Chevrolet, the second a 1936 Ford and the third a 1937 Ford.

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
Hitachi made copies of Ford trucks and cars. It's hard to translate exactly but the car was called the Hitachi Federal and the truck was a copy of the V8-51. The identifiable difference is the indentations behind the doors. Not sure the significance of the name Shirato in regards to Hitachi?

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
I just found this thread today . Does anyone have any info on this rather odd truck called a Type 100 Railroad Engine, e.g. manufacturer, etc? I presume given it's narrow track of just over 100 cm it was more useful on rails than off.

See below.
http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/T100rail.html
The manufacturer was Isuzu. Type 100 can run on various gauges from narrow to wide, especially 1,000mm gauge which was used in Southeast Asia.

A few more:
Edit: the type 98 and 100 railroad trucks could be mixed up due to bad sources.

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
Your Type 100 is actually a Type 98. You can see the Type 100 radiator grill is more square and the cab is enclosed.

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
Source 1 mentions there are three versions of this rail-truck. Source 2 says the Type 100 was adjustable from 1000mm to 1524mm (gauge used in Manchuria). It is confusing so I don't know what the real answer is.
Type 100: 1000mm
Type 1: 1000mm(?)
Type 3: unknown

Re: Type 95 Truck and Other Odd Vehicles
You misunderstand the source. Source 1 says that the gauge of Type 100 can be changed to three versions - 1,067mm(Japan), 1,435mm(China), 1,524mm(Russia).Luftflotte2 wrote:Source 1 mentions there are three versions of this rail-truck
According to this source, Type 100 adjustable to 1,000mm gauge was called Type 1. But, I don't know whether it is correct or not.
