Hi Peter,
Thank you very much for posting these historic photos! I think the rally in Singapore was at the Padang most probably the students were on the Emperor's birthday parade.

Such work parties from Changi are mentioned in Australian accounts from 1942...a great chance for pilfering extra food as well.
