Hello!

Obviously the agency's name is based on Japanese word "Great Eastern Asia":
大東亜 Dai-tō-a

Hi peter,

Great collection of photos you have here. I am interested in using some of them, especially the ones from Malaya for a documentary. Would you know who owns the copyrights to the photos?

By the way, what is the title of the book? I tried searching the internet for Daitoua Press Agency and also Dai-tō-a press agency and nothing came up.

Hi,no problem, feel free to use any photos that may interest you.
According to Wikipedia, these would be now classified as public domain photos I guess.i.e "the photographic image was published before December 31st 1956, or photographed before 1946 and not published for 10 years thereafter..."

hisashi should be able to clarify the issue.

Just give the Axis History Forum credit if this is the case.

Good question,I asked the same here and Aleks provided a part answer. It had me stumped as well. The Japanese ebay seller used the Daitoua reference when selling the item.

Here's the title page of the book if someone can translate correctly.

thanks for scanning the front page. I'll get it translated.

Were there any captions with the photos? Would like to know if they indicate when and where the photos were taken, for the ones about Malaya.

Thanks Peter.
