Good evening fontessa:

American intelligence listed the following units as landing on Biak on 25 December 1943.

Does this look correct?

222nd Infantry, 36th Division
37th Land Duty Company
38th Land Duty Company
55th Sea Duty Company
one platoon, 50th Specially Established Construction Duty Company
87th Patient Evacuation Platoon
elements, 27th Field Water Supply and Purification Department (I also find elements of this units traveling to Okinawa 31 July -10 August 1944)
17th Field Airfield Construction Unit
107th Field Airfield Construction Unit
12th Mobile Lumber Manufacturing Section
one platoon, 11th Debarkation Unit
one platoon, 248th Independent Machine Gun Unit
elements, 10th Field MP Unit

I have seen your site at //www.fontessa.info/kaiyouhenseishidan/36d.html.

You earlier said that the division's main body and the 223rd Infantry landed at Sarmi on 25 December. Do you have an order of battle such as the above for the Sarmi landing?

Good morning John:

Unfortunately Senshi Sosho doesn’t answer your questions. As for Biak Detachment, the lower part of my web page shows its composition. It doesn't accord with the record of US very much.

Although the answer is less likely to be provided, I would like to check related unit histories. But I don’t have enough time now.

Good morning John:

The rest was non-combat units including about 3,000 men of 兵補 heiho.

They were transported by 3 transport ships – 建和丸 Kenwa Maru, べんがる丸 Bengal Maru and 御月丸 Mitsuki Maru. According to the 222nd Infantry Regiment unit history, the regiment was aboard Kenwa Maru.
