Did the IJN holystone their wooden decks?

No stone used. At first they brushed wooden deck after they showered sea water on it, and wiped it with 'sofu', loosened used Manila rope. Perhaps 'sofu' was 掃布. By searching on 'ソーフ 海軍' you find some Japanese explanations and recalls.
