Santos Maru — Captain in 1941

#1

Post by Leo Niehorster » 23 Oct 2014, 19:17

Greetings,

Looking for the commander of the Santos Maru 01.03.41 through 11.08.41. I have not been able to locate any reference to Captain Matsubara Kanzo indicated as Etajima Class 42. He is not listed there, at least not under this English name.
And, apparently, Captain Kiyama Tatsuo was only acting?
     01.03.41–12.03.41   Capt Kiyama Tatsuo (42) 木山辰雄 (Acting)
     12.03.41–11.08.41   Capt Matsubara Kanzo (42) ?
     11.08.41–18.11.42   Capt Seki Tei (36) 関  禎

As usual, any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers
Leo

Hello Leo,

Accrding to page 15 of JACAR C13072080500 and page 24 of JACAR C13072081700;
15.03.41 - 11.08.40 松原寛三大佐

And in your web page, 松原寛三 was listed as Matsubara Hiromi (39).

Many thanks for the missing name.

Acting = a temporary commander. The real captain is delayed, sick, on vacation, en-route, ...

Cheers
