Divisions formed in 1945 on the Japanese Mainland

#1

Post by territoriale » 25 Oct 2014, 19:25

Can someone please confirm which Depot/Districts formed the 140th/142nd-147th/151st-157th/160th; 2xx and 3xx series Divisions on the Japanese mainland in 1945 please?

I can guess at some of them from the last digits in the number (e.g.142nd by bthe 2nd Depot Divison/District)but the numerical logic of the others is unclear.

Thanks,
Martin

Many thanks again for the information Fontessa,

I have a question about the 231st Division which was raised in the Chebu District in May 1945.

That District had the Osaka (4th) and Kyoto (53rd ex 16th) Depot Divisions (by May 1945, I believe that the Hiroshima [5th] Depot Divison had gone to the Choboku District) but the x31 or xx1 number in the 231 does not match any of these Depot Divisions.

Do you know exactly which Depot Division raised the 231st Division?

Thanks

Many thanks again,Fontessa

Unfortunately, I note that the Division numbers do not always match the Depot Division - could you tellus what the Depot Divisions were for the second wave of divisions formed on 2nd April 1945 (201st to 216th)?

動員監理官 of the 2nd Wave Mobilization were as follows.
201st Division: the commander of Tobu Army Distinct
202nd Division: the commander of Tohoku Army Distinct
205th Division: the commander of Chubu Army Distinct
206th Division: the commander of Seibu Army Distinct
209th Division: the commander of Tokai Army Distinct
212nd Division: the commander of Seibu Army Distinct
214th Division: the commander of Tobu Army Distinct
216th Division: the commander of Chubu Army Distinct

Thanks
