Soryu & Hiryu Officers?

#1

Post by ijnfleetadmiral » 30 Oct 2014, 21:39

According to Parshall & Tully's Shattered Sword (also known to me as the "Midway Bible"), Soryu's Gunnery Officer was CDR KANAO Ryoichi. I've checked my sources and found no such officer. However, there was a CDR KANAO Takiichi from Eta Jima's 56th Class. Could this be the same person? If so, when was he posted to Soryu and where else was he assigned in his IJN career?

The book also lists Soryu's Navigator as a LCDR ASANOUMI and Hiryu's Navigator as a LCDR CHO. Anyone have any info on these officers, such as 1) Their first names, 2) When they were assigned to Soryu and Hiryu, and 3) Where else were they assigned in their careers?

TIA for any info!
