Hello Wellgunde,

Land Transport Units were subordinate to Naval Distinct or Guard Distinct. There is no perfect list on it. But their wartime diary says part of their subordination.

1st and 2nd Land Transport Units: Yokosuka Naval Distinct
6th Land Transport Unit: Ominato Guard Distinct
11th Land Transport Unit: Osaka Guard Distinct
13th Land Transport Unit: Kure Naval Distinct

Thank you, Fontessa

Little by little we are learning more about these very obscure Navy organizations.

I am going to go out on a limb and speculate that the Navy Land Transport Units were:
1. All formed after May 1945
2. That they were all formed in Japan and that they all remained there
3. That they were formed as part of Ketsu Go
4. That they were formed to engage in the preparation, construction, and repair of defensive works.

By the way, what is the Japanese for Land Transport Unit (kanji/romaji)?

According to JACAR C08030203100 (Wartime Diary of the 2nd Land Transport Unit), the activity of this unit was as follows.
Duties contents in July 1945
(1) Urgent evacuation of Toyokawa Naval Arsenal by 10 trucks
(2) Urgent evacuation of 2nd Naval Fuel Depot by 12 trucks
(3) Urgent evacuation of Aichi Aircraft Eitoku Factory by 12 trucks
Total of transport volume: 10,786 tons
- Number of total number of men: 5,239 men
- Number of total number of trucks: 514
- I think land transportation units engage in the transportation for urgent evacuation.

It was 陸上輸送隊 (Rikujo Yuso Tai).
