According to The Naval Data Base website a Lt.Cdr.Kobayashi Hinomoto 小林日本 was C.O. of RO-31 from 12/06/1943 to 01/07/1943.
I can't find any information about him anywhere i.e. Class number, date of birth, fate, other postings or commands.
His given Name also translates to Nippon or Japan.
Can anyone help ?
TIA, Steve Eckardt.

LCDR KOBAYASHI Hinomoto was a Reserve Officer. The only other info I have for him is that he was CO of kaibokan OKI from September 1943 - 8 January 1944.

Hello Steve and ijnfleetadmiral,

According to page 1 of JACAR C05110501800, he was promoted to LTJG on 20 May 1937. Can’t we guess his class of Etajima from the year of the LTJG promotion?

He was not a reserve officer.
According to page 1 of JACAR C13072083800, LT KOBAYASHI Hinomoto was attached to Kure Naval Distinct on 2 January 1942. His former post was the CO of the Subchaser No.13.
According to page 14 of JACAR C13072091600, LT KOBAYASHI Hinomoto was appointed the CO of RO-31. There is no description on his former post,
According to page 5 of JACAR C13072092000, LT KOBAYASHI Hinomoto was appointed the CO of OKI on 1 July 1943. His former post was the CO of RO-31.
According to page 45 of JACAR C13072092300, LT KOBAYASHI Hinomoto was attached to Kure Naval Distinct on 2 August 1943. His former post was the CO of OKI.

Hi Fontessa,
Great job, he would have to be in class 61 or 62 I think. It seems it took two or three years to be promoted to Lt(jg) after graduation.
I can't find him in the Etajima website. It is a bit of a mystery.
Steve.
