IGHQ Army Order no. 967

#1

Post by Joan Pinyol » 29 Sep 2015, 22:55

The IGHQ Army Order no. 967, issued on 16 March 1944, re-organized all IJA forces in the Northern area. This order assigned the OOB to 5th Area Army and to 27th Army. Again the appendix containing details is missing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards

Dear Fontessa,

The 12th Field Machine Cannon Company was assigned to 5th Area Army in Wakkanai at the end of the war. Was it assigned after 16 March 1944?
The Northern Army 23rd Independent Field AAA Company perhaps was assigned to any Fortress HQ or any Defence Unit or Guard Unit and it is the reason because it is not listed?

As for 5th Area Army line of communications units?
16th Independent Motor Transport Battalion
24th Independent Motor Transport Company
293rd Independent Motor Transport Company
294th Independent Motor Transport Company
5th Area Army Medical Unit
Hakodate Army Hospital
Sapporo Army Hospital
Chishima Army Hospital (27th Army)
Hakodate POW Internment Camp
11th Field Remount Depot
1st Fortress Construction Duty Company
2nd Fortress Construction Duty Company
3rd Fortress Construction Duty Company
4th Fortress Construction Duty Company (formed by Special Mobilization Order no. 41, 14 March 1944)
9th Fortress Construction Duty Company

Dear Fontessa,

There are a revision of the OOB of 5th Area Army and 27th Army by IGHQ Army Order no. 1008, on 11 May 1944. Again the appendix is not there. Probably the units quoted above were added by this Order.
