He was relieved the Gunnery Officer of YAMATO on 03/10/45.
According to page 17 of JACAR C13072105200, CAPT NOMURA Jiro was appointed the CO of 35th Assault Unit on 19 May 1945.

Awesome...thanks! So apparently he was not Acting XO of YAMATO from 15 March 1944 - 10 March 1945; there was someone else assigned to that position. Interesting.

The author KOJIMA Noboru says CDR NOMURA was XO at the time.
Of course this is a mistake.
But I think that he acted as acting XO. Even if it is not appointed formally.

Yes, I also think CDR NOMURA was acting XO, not as an additional post. I have read the non-fiction book “Battleship YAMATO”. According to it, in July 1944, he tried the unification of meal for the officers and meal for the sailors. However, it caught the repulsion of the crew, and he had to withdraw it immediately.
