I am trying to gather additional info on a possible aerial engagement that occurred 30 January 1943 near Malaita, an island northeast of Guadalcanal.

The VCS Det Ringbolt War Diary states they lost an SOC and crew over Malaita and that a float zero shot it down. That would tend to point towards 802 Ku but I am looking at all possibilities to include other units, float biplanes, etc.....

To further frustrate me, JACAR does not seem to be responding today, possibly down.

Does anyone have info on an aerial credit that date by any chance by any IJN units. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
