Japanese Army white uniforms?

#1

Post by Hama » 27 Nov 2016, 13:47

I found these pictures from the surrender of Japanese army on the island of Kusaie (コスラエ州) at the end of the war. The website claims that the photos show Japanese officers, and I was curious because they appear to be wearing white tunics. I know the Navy of course had white uniform versions but I never saw this on the army before.

Does anyone have info on this? Were there white uniforms issued for the army?

Here are the images:

They are not Japanese, but are Micronesians. So, their uniform is not of Japanese army, but of Micronesian official.

I was suspicious that they might not be Japanese. So the website was wrong then. Thanks for confirming.
