Question about Japanese officer equipment

#1

Post by Hama » 28 Nov 2016, 15:07

I read that most Imperial Military officers (like in many militaries of the time) were expected to purchase their own uniforms and sidearms. Can anyone tell me where they did this? Were there specialist military shops on the bases, or did they go to civilian tailors and gun shops to buy their things?

They went to civilian tailors and gun shops or went to Kaikosha.

Do you know any names of major gun retailers in Japan at the time where officers might have purchased their sidearms? Or were they mostly bought at small individual businesses?

川口屋 was a major gun retailer.

Besides it, there were several large or small gun retailers.
