Thank you, sir.

This should be an easy question: When and where did KdB first come under air attack?

9 April 1942, off Trincomalee. Nine Blenheims attacked, but scored no hits.

Correct! Whether or not KdB was taken totally by surprise has been under discussion at http://www.j-aircraft.org/smf/index.php?topic=14030.0.

RADM (VADM posthumously) Kaizuka Takeo was the final CO of Zuikaku. What ship did he command before Zuikaku? (And 20 bonus points if you can tell me who the XO of Zuikaku was at the time of Cape Engano, and whether or not he was KIA.)

Hello!
The ship under question was Hosho (according to http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/K/a/Kaizuka_Takeo.htm Takeo commanded it from July 5 till December 18, 1943). Unfortunately, no bonus points... :(

Best regards, Aleks

Japanese and Russian officers posing together for a photograph after the fall of Port Arthur in January 1905. They include Japanese commander Nogi Maresuke and his defeated adversary Russian General Anatoly Stessel

What's the name of the Taiwanese politician whose older brother volunteered for the Japanese Navy and died in the Philippines in February 1945?
