Finnish Bristol Blenheim Mk-4

#1

Post by ernesto73 » 16 May 2011, 08:09

welcome!
Several years ago my colleagues have found in a lake in southern Karelia remains Finnish bomber.
As we found out it was the Bristol Blenheim Mk-4 "
likely, the aircraft fell on the ice and caught fire. a lot of melted metal.
own center-pulled on the metal in the 70 years.
one engine picked up in the 90's.
the second engine broke.
Yesterday I managed to come back and pick up some details.
summer want to come pick up the rest and dive there.
depth is small, the visibility is good.
Help on stored numbers to establish the aircraft tail number and find out the fate of the crew....

Thank you very much ernesto for sharing these interseting photos.

However, I think that this one is not from a Blenheim:

It seems to be from a V-12 engine, not from a radial engine.

landing gear is very similar to Blenheim.
or there are 2 plane crashed?
unlikely.

The crankshaft is from a inline engine, not from a radial one.
Quite a puzzle.

landing gear is most similar to Blenheim Mark-4.
but the engine I, too, was confused.
a couple of weeks, as water ceases to warm, Go back to dive.
2 aircraft may indeed there is.
I will find out.

A Blenheim, escorted by G-50 both of which were shot down / crashed for unknown reason?

But the inline is neither G-50 nor Blenheim.
