Crashed FW condor 200 VI "Brandenburg"

Postby Galahad on 08 Apr 2012 21:42

This links to some photos of the propaganda Condor that flew non-stop from Berlin to New York, and then back. The next month it flew to Tokyo in less than two days. On the return flight, it ran out of fuel (which seems weird) and crash-landed in the Philippines.

It did not run out of fuel - they had problems with the fuel supply.
Either broken down fuel pumps or something with the fuel lines (or a fuel leak?).

Re Denniss' comment.....if it had a fuel leak it might indeed have run out of fuel. That certainly makes more sense than it not having enough fuel for the flight, which is what first pops into your head--not after it flew Berlin to New York non-stop.
