What airplane is this from?

This was in my grandpa's stuff brought home from Guadalcanal. Can anyone help identify what aircraft this is from? Or, could someone translate any of the markings? Thanks!

From oldcrowcv63 on aircraft.net

"From my son's spouse:

"In the first picture, the pictures in the middle and on the left have kanji for "connected/not connected" in the red and black parts. Red being connected. On the far right in the lower part are kanji for bright and dark in the red and black" (Lights?).

"The big black switch with the three kanji at the top have power/voltage on the left, electric current on the right, and the middle is off."

There is no aircraft identification experience there, just translation of the kanji and probably literal bsent aviation-centric meaning. Also seems like there should be more than what's listed above, based on the number of dials and kanji in the photos so it may be only a partial translation"

oldcrowcv63,
Thanks for taking the time to have your son's spouse look at this. I posted this on another forum and got a couple of other translations. One of the marking says, "Firing Range" and another says "Landing Light". Unfortunately, the person that translated on the other forum didn't specify which panel or which switch. If I find out more on the other forum I will post it here.

Robert Mikesh wrote two books that might be of help to you:
http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Aircraft ... h+japanese
and
http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Aircraft ... h+japanese

They're not cheap or easy to find but you might find them through interlibrary loan.

Also might be worthwhile posting on this forum:

or contacting the owner of this blog:

I found a photo that helps confirm this panel is from an aircraft. Take a look at the black and white photo of this Nakajima Ki-43. In the upper left corner of the photo there is a panel that looks very similar to what I've got.

I showed it to a Japanese student, who translated many of the labels. External Power, Generator, Bombs, Volts, Amps, Landing Light, Heated Clothing (for the electrical suits of the day!!!) were some that he translated for me.
The above quote is from another member on a different forum that I have helping with the search. Pretty interesting.

The Japanese had Naval Type 1 Bettys, G4M1 Bombers, A6M Zeros and various support aircraft. The exact numbers are not know since the airfield was not finished or fully operational. Many of the planes that attacked the USN and the Army were from Rabul and used the field for emergency landings.

Your panels and guages could be from any or several of these.
