but a closer look reveals it's not a ww2 torpedo, It's German alright but from the cold war era.

As I have posted earlier, these are british Mk VIII torpedoes, and might very well be WWII, as it was introduced in the late 1920's.

Your second photo shows a detail on the post-war german exersice head (btw: "Versorg nr" = NSN, or NATO serial number. The first four digits is the Class, were 1355 indicates torpedo branch. The following two-digits indicates the first nation to introduce the specific item into service, and I'm pretty sure "12" is Germany).

The other torpedo has been pushed off down the hill on the southside of the road and are hidden among the bushes (it has a warhead of unknown type/origin).

EDIT: Here is one of my earlier posts with photos of both Mk VIII's taken before the recent vandalism: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 6&start=18

Here a document that the four x 21 cm K 39/40 were first placed near the Suda bay
before they were placed at Cap Drapanon in a H.K.B. .

The fourth 4,7 cm Festungpak 36(t) bunker found on Crete (the third with preserved embrasure).

It is located at Nopigia, probably the nordeastern part (to cover the beach). More photos at Fortifications.gr.

Hi Natter, is there any location at the forum? I do not see attachments without registration (which does not works).

Yes, there are locations, but it's the same files as I have posted here.

It's no problem to register on the norwegian forum.

Oh... I didn't realize they had such questions (must have been added after I signed up...). Shouldn't be hard to get help from norwegian members on AHF though... :-)
