K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
According to a publication written by Finn Aarum in 2002 on "The Railway Guns at Knatterud", i.e. the former E 689 sBruno Battery, the two guns had the following Reichbahn numbers:
Tactical "A" - Nr 919060 - Nicknamed "Adolf"
Tactical "B" - Nr 919059 - Nicknamed "Benito"
The two guns, together with 4 french 24 cm railway guns and a lot of other surplus guns, were scrappet at Christiania Spigerverk in the mid 1950'ies.

Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
Just received Eisenbahnartillerie by Wolfgang Gückelhorn and Detlev Paul; K5 (E) Reichsbahn numbers, but only for 15 guns, 13 of which match up to the original list:
919223 and 919447 are new to the list from the book, not sure if they belong. 919447 is actually listed twice, both as a 28 cm K5 and as a 28 cm K5 glatt (each time attached to E.749). Additionally, from over here:

So we assign 919220 to E.712 with Robert - and 919210 with E.2/725 with Leopold = 919210 would be Margaret...Manuferey wrote: There is a propaganda picture of 919220 on this cover page of Wolfgang Guekelhorn in his 2014 book "Eisenbahnartillerie ..."

On the top left of the 2nd page, there is a caption for this photo which indicates that 919220 belonged to E.712 when stationed at Hydroquent (near Calais), that it saw action afterwards in Russia and Italy and ended up in ... Trieste !

Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
Jeff,
Thank you for posting this information.
I see that "919447" was nicknamed "Anni". I have seen one of the K5 guns in Russia nicknamed "Agathe" (handwritten on the back of the picture) but I could not read the Reichsbahn number. That would make two guns with a nickname starting with "A".
Also regarding 919447 listed twice, I would not be surprised if the Germans replaced an original 28 cm rifled barrel with a 31 cm smoothbore (i.e. "glatt") on the same carriage.
BTW, which guns are "glatt" on your table?

Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
The K5 data from Gückelhorn/Paul's Eisenbahnartillerie indicate 2x 28cm K5 glatt - 919443 and 919447, the later being the only one mentioned also as 28cm K5.

Thank you Emmanuel, that info helps the task. Not sure if the Hanomag = struts is going to work if all info is correct.

Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
Great summary table, Jeff.
It looks indeed that the struts are not special to Hanomag .

Re: K5 Reichsbahn Series numbers
Thank you Uwe, everything just got more complicated. I knew guns would be moved around, I was only hoping that was not the case. Looks like 919212 just got back on the list!
