Hello All
Found this blurry picture on a Russian internetsite ( Narod.ru ) looks a Italian tank turret
with a original gun and not the German 7.5 cm KwK L/24 ??

Hi Jos
Yes, the "russian" photo is P40 turret with its own original gun,
and is very interesting.

Hi Jos

Here's a photo of the prototype with KwK at the Hillersleben proving ground. These facilities were visited by a US Army Ordnance team, but I have never found a report of the inspection other than the photos.

Re: Tobruk with italian tank turret
The MHI collection at Carlisle Barracks does not have a report on the tank turret fortifications at Hillersleben. The photos are simply part of a larger photo collection by one of the Ordnance officers who was part of the team at Hillersleben (and other locations).

Re: Tobruk with italian tank turret
Correct-I mentioned about set of photos-not about reports.
This officer was responsible for enemy ordnance matters
Unfortunetly MHI is not so open and liberal as NARA...

Re: Tobruk with italian tank turret
I believe we have seen some of the pictures made by one of the american team here on the forum.
On these pictures we could see the Tobruks, prototype shells, a Minenraumer, some targets and bunkers.
Greetings Jack.

Re: Tobruk with italian tank turret
BTW, the emplaced P 40 were probably not the turrets, but the whole tank. German sources indicate that 101 P 40s were completed (13 complete and 11 without engines in 1943, and 48 complete and 29 without engines in 1944-45). The 40 engine-less tanks were emplaced in the fortified lines along the coast in Tuscany and in the Gothic Line. Some of these were dug into the ground, while others were deployed behind walls or creek embankments.
