Hello Ualexj

The upper photo on your map must be taken at M.Fl.B. Nordmole and as you know the
last photo the M.Fl.B. Lehmberg , the black and white photo is a 12.8 cm Flak 40 M .

Regards Jos

P.S. If you have more photo's of the flakbettungen I am very interested .

"Schweinsrücken" battery from Klaipeda (Memel) was transferred to Tallinn (Reval) in March 1943 (arrival reported 28.03.1943) and incorporated as 8th battery into Marine-Flak-Abteilung 711. Reported battle-ready on next day.
Does somebody know more details?

FlaK 40 barrel found in Giruliai

Post by banditaz » 10 Jul 2009, 00:14

Hello!

A little news. A week ago in 'Batterie Försterei' (gallery) two history enthusiasts found a barrel from 12.8 cm FlaK 40, about 1.5 m deep in sand near one of the positions. It is in quite a good condition. See map below:

Here are two articles in Lithuanian language, but there is no interesting information - only a few images:
Articel 1 (Title: German cannon found in Giruliai)
Article 2 (Title: War "games" guided to Nazi heritage)

Sorry, I don't have photos of barrel itself...

If it's interesting for anyone, than I should say, that the barrel was found by Klaipeda's war history club's members.I took some photos of it when we digged it out.

Here the confirmation on the 12.8 cm guns in B. Försterei in 1944, strange is only the 12.8 cm S.K.C/40 for a M.Fl.B.
