Here the Tankditch at walcheren (welzingepolder)
With site on Middelburg, here the tankditch went over to a tankwall on our right, unfortanely just out of the pic :(

And the Tankwall before the road came !

1. Is were the wall stops today
2. Is were where the Höckerhindernisse
3. Destroyed 680
4. 680 (booby bunker) still is there today

So if you might have some more info about this spot of our V.B. and particullair the tankditch tankwall transition.
Maybe some close by pics would be nice ;)

Greetz, Ramon
And look on the last black & white photo, just on your right, next to 1. is a little obstacle on the dyke ?
Can this may be a Walzkörpersper ???

More bad news from HvH.
http://www.fortificatieforum.nl/viewtop ... f=38&t=880
when the demolition goes on the Landfront will loose a great part of its still visible bunkers!!
The new owner started with the demolition without the needed papers and permission.
Sad greetings Jack.

This is my first visit to this site and WWII bunkers have always interested me. I was looking foreward to visiting these places someday but it looks as though they may not be around much longer. Why are so many being destroyed? Mountain Man made this comment: "There will soon be generations of people who have no idea what the words "Second World War" even mean". I wonder if this may be the real motive for destroying history?

Hello

Well - as i see it the only motive is - progress and developement.

If you look through this tread it is only in and around larger cities that the bunkers are destroyed - mostly anyway.

There is still a lot to see "out there" - and there has and still are being done a great work to secure and preserve fortifications and bunkers and other historic parts around the world.

A lot of the people here in this section are involved in this, but - sometimes - we are too late to do anything - and will have to accept that we can not save everything - and accept that everything does not have to be saved.

But we have to be on the lookout all the time, right :)

I am a daily visitor, but not so active in reactions,
but this is the perfect statement how many of us feel ....
thank you,

I think we can now call the 631 at Le Portel a destroyed bunker.
This was the most unhistorical way to threat this matter......

Hello

Yes - this could have been done more "nicely"

Wonder why the bunker should be treated this way, or maybe its the idea to restore the bunker back in its original state again?
