Railway guns of the Axis forces
Re: Railway guns of the Axis forces
Hi - The photo is a bit unclear but the trunnion assembly (where the soldier is resting his foot)
looks (to me at least) to be that of a Lg. Br. Kan (E).
Happy Weekend to all

Re: Railway guns of the Axis forces
Hi again, I zoomed in using a photo editor and on second look I think its a Kz. Br instead - while the stepped
barrel can't be seen because of the crew... there is an oil cup visible on the Rohr Weige just about with it would
be on the Kurze Bruno - my guess anyway
Regards

Re: Railway guns of the Axis forces
Looks to me 20.3 cm Railway guns from Ebay, but I can't place the buildings in the back in Lisseweghe , Auderville .
Could it be Plounez or is it on a other place ??

Re: Railway guns of the Axis forces
Jos,
Some of the backsides of the pictures from this series sold on ebay carry handwritten mentions of "Cherbourg" and "1943". We can see hills and a building on the background of two pictures you have posted. It could be at Equeurdreville after the battery had left its position in Carteret and before it was moved to Auderville (by road since there was no railroad to that position). The Germans may have reused an existing Voegele platform left behind by a previous battery there.
Separately, on top of the building on the right of the 2nd picture, there seems to be a camouflaged tower for light Flak.

Re: Railway guns of the Axis forces
I believe it's a Bruno N (Nue) based on the height of the barrel securing/rest bracket.
I bought several pictures of this series off ebay and will check as soon as I get them.
Kind regards
