Westwall
Re: Westwall
Hello Jos,
thank you for sharing this nice new image two days ago. It seems to me that we see one early build MG Schartenstand from the 100er series in the front and a later on added Pak Schartenstand from the 100er or 500er series. I believe the second bunker to be a Pak bunker, because both bunkers lie so close to each other that it does not seem logical to place here two Mg’s beside each other. Also I believe to see a step in the right lower corner of the gun opening. That would be typical for a Pak Schartenplatte.
As both bunkers are placed into the small area between the road and the sloping hill I would believe that both structures are more or less as wide as they are long. So I would vote for a R 105 in the front and a 505 in the back. If that theory proofs right it must be possible to locate this situation on a Stellungskarte.
Maybe someone in this forum will find out?
Regards
Daniel

Yes I vote for a 105 and 505 too. Typical this small piece of wall extending at the front for a 505. Interesting photo!

Hello gentlemen,
the last placed image of westwall bunkers occupied by US troops show WH 339 and 340 located in the Gieschbachtal. The image was allready published in the book Hölle im Hürtgenwald written by Adolf Hohenstein and Wofgang Trees.
