Re: M.K.B. de la Creche I
Do drawings inside Creche also count? I wonder if these still exist, or have been restored..
Kind regards,

Thank you, Dirk for the pictures !
And very interesting drawings, Maurice! I can understand the German artillery crews at La Creche being able to recognize battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen dashing through the Strait of Dover during Operation Cerberus in early 1942 but having the silhouettes of Deutschland and Admiral Hipper is interesting. It would mean that the battery was not made aware of exactly which warships would go through the Strait, including in which direction, thus, preserving secrecy of Operation Cerberus!

That blue paint we see in this batterie is also used for french numbers etc
Dirk
PS in the french Leitstand we found them too these silhouettes here french nrs and texts I ll think its the same paint

Emmanuel, the drawings can not be directly related to the Channel Dash, they would have been there since 1940.
Dirk, interesting possibility, drawings of French origin. But, why should the other countries planes and ships not be present then? It seems they found some old French blue paint and used it.
Isn't there a museum now?

Dirk's hypothesis is very interesting indeed. Wouldn't the Germans have used more "gothic" letters ?
It's possible that other countries' planes and ships were drawn on another section of the wall.

Re: M.K.B. de la Creche I
Can anyone ask the "museum" there
There must be persons who work for the preservation of Fort Creche
Maybe they know...

Re: M.K.B. de la Creche I
I think the drawnings are french. I know similar for planes in the Gris-Nez sémaphore/lighthouse in June 1940.
They were used to recognise quickly friends and foes.
The association of La Creche preserves everything from the french periods (1879 and 1939). A part of the blue drawnings have been sadly savaged by intruders around 2005 before the cells of the french fort were closed up with doors and bars. I don't know if they have been restored since.

I can't recall if there were also other than German vessels and planes painted. For aircraft recognition one would expect there would be also French and English material painted on the wall. Otherwise it are just German decorations - they would not paint French vessels.
Heim62, you mention: The association of La Creche preserves everything from the french periods (1879 and 1939. Does that mean they do not look after the German bunkers?
