Secret Luftwaffe village-like bunkers in France

#1

Post by WEISWEILER » 03 Oct 2007, 21:58

These series reveal a most peculiar 'bunker' used by the Luftwaffe. We are in the north of France just behind the Atlantikwall. On the shore there are Wehrmacht bunkers hiding heavy artillery batteries. On the beach the remains of battles. Than we see what looks like a common farmhouse. However, they aren’t farmers living there. And there are more buildings - a village... The art of deception...

The Atlantikwall in the north of France, probably at the Côte d'Opale.

Than, about half a mile away, we spot a house.

Maybe we could hide from the cold and get a nice cup of coffee.

Now, what's this? The windows and the doors... they're just like painted decor, and the façade is opening!

And the driveway is an airstrip. Indeed a most peculiar bunker.

The aircraft is a Heinkel He-111 H-3 bomber. (Werksnummern 3157 - 3210, 3245 - 3258, 3295 - 3352 5601 - 5730, 6821 - 6945. From November 1939, Jumo 211 D-l-Triebwerke)

To which Kampfgruppe this plane would belong (insignia on the cockpit)?

Hello

OK....a camouflaged hangar on an airfield?

Do you know where?

Hi Kurt,

I'm still trying to find out where this could be exactly. My first guess is south of Dunkerque...
