#1

Post by S_haule » 01 May 2008, 20:21

Dear Friends,

Just some pictures extracted from French News (INA records) filmed between 1944 and 1946 : MKB Sainte Adresse, a 668 camouflaged as Bar in Harbour area, a LS bunker "interdit aux Français" and an other LS bunker repainted by American troops in the Harbour.

Greetings,

Sébastien HAULE

PS : Sorry for the quality, it is from Quicktime video.

Thanks Sébastien

Great picture's , but it brings up a lot of quistions .
First I allways thought that M.K.B. St Adresse was blow-up by the the German troops .
The L.S. has a St sign could this be a M 168 and as last I think that the Bar bunker
is not a 668 because this bunker has a entrance in the middle of the bunker( 600 or 655 )
also the 4 pipe ends near the entrance would indicate that is not a 668 ????
Is't correct that the 5 cm K.w.K. bettung was placed near this bunker ?

Hi Jos,

For the picture of MKB St Adresse, it is from a French News based on German propaganda film : the film is about Atlantikwall and a visit of Rommel. So, its was before the capture of Le Havre.

For the other pictures : the bunker I said to be 668 could be a 600 but I didn't make a comparison with pictures of 668. As you said, a bettung was build near this bunker for a 5 cm Kwk. There wass in an other palce of the harbour the same kind of bunker, with a bettung for a 5 cm Kwk few meters from...We can supose that in some place in Le Havre, the German built the 600 without bettung on the roof, but with a bettung at ground level, few meters from the 600?

Sébastien

It's not a 668 because it has four air in/outtakes.
It's not a 600 either.. :)

Hello Sébastien

Thanks again for the additionel information , what is your opinion on the L.S. or M 168 with the St sign ??
In the area of the 1 army there are also 600 with a bettung near the bunker but not on top as usual .

Hi Jos,

I made some research about this mysterious bunker "interdit aux Français". First, I found exactly where he was build : it is near the bassin du Roy, not far from the "Douanes" building. The remain of the wall on the background are from the "Douanes" building. According to JP Dubosq book based on German document, this bunker is described as "bunker for 50 men", and in my opinion, it should be a M168.

For the bunker repainted by American troops, it is the LS Bunker on the harbour modified by German as medical bunker. There is also pictures in JP Dubosq book of this bunker.

For the other one, camouflaged as "Bar", of course the bunker is equiped with 4 pipes : all the 600 I saw had just one. But may be German made some local modification? I have no picture of 655, so I can't compare.

Regards,

Sébastien

Hi Jos,

The pictures are extracted from a ground checking notes I found during my research in a record center in Paris. I gave a copy of files to Dirk.

I have no more information about this bunker. It was belonged to MKB Nice Havrais in Sainte Adresse and was built in 1943. The villas built here was demolished simulteanously with Palais des Régates and Hôtel du Commerce for the construction of battery Sainte Adresse. This bunker was demolished at the end of 1946.

Today, only small remains of concrete can be seen.

Best regards from Le Havre,

Sébastien

Here is a view of the Palais du Commerce and the area in early 20th century:

Hi Sebastien and Jos,

About the 668, Maybe a 193 with deep entrance?

A 193 waterbunker has also 4 pipes arround the entrance... not exactly in distance, but maybe possible?
