Hello Jos,

Zitadelle is the same as Citadel in dutch.
For instance Citadel van Namen, Citadel van Dinant, .....

Thanks Bart

For the explenation , but in Norway airfields are called Zitadelle , in Holland parts of towns , the only logic one is
St Malo the Fort de la Cite witch resembles the Citadel van Namen, Citadel van Dinant a sort of last defence.

By the way, do you guys know what "Qu" means? Quartiere perhaps? but Quartiere from what? because the festung HQ lies in the Marinepark and not in the Zitadelle...

perhaps the name Zitadelle refers to the place where the last defense can be conducted? the last central defense, the "Réduit"?

Also the Fort de la Cité d'Alet ( Ra 230 ) is also called Zitadelle , here a nice example
from Holland from the Zitadelle in Utrecht with a 610 S.K.. Vauban , van Coehoorn and
Machiavelli would be jealous :D :D

Hello,

In french "citadelle" means the fortified part inside a town (Ra 230 Cité d'Aleth for St Malo, for instance), and also a strong place, heavily fortified, the last defense line before the fall of a town, an island ...
