Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Interestingly, the above German propaganda picture of an "FT - MG 311(f) Girod" turret was used by the Japanese:
(expired ebay auction)
AFAIK, the actual location of this turret has not been found yet.

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
I'm not sure if the turret below was still mounted on a buried tank or on a buried bunker:
In Sollum, Egypt, a British tank turret reused by the Germans:

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Hi,
anyone can give the exact location of the former APX turret bunker at Knokke-Zoute?
Did here the German also replaced the steel turret by a concrete cuppola ?
Regards,
Cnock

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Hello Ondrej,
this FT 17 turret was once placed in the comunity of Hollen (as mentioned in the text below the image) in southern norway. From Hollen harbour goes the ferry to the HKB 21/979 Ny Hellesund. The basement of this turret had a short tunnel that lead to it. The surface of the Rs was integrated into the surrounding landscape by very good camouflage made of cement and stones. As far as I know this turret is gone since some years. I visited it in september 2001.
Regards
Daniel

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
I guess sometimes it pays to look away from the exhibition...
I encountered this Renault FT turret in the domain 'Raversijde' (Belgium, near Ostend)... I do not know if it is attached to a bunker or if it is still complete; I could (may) not approach it nore take a photo from an other angle, the only possibility (this far) was a photo from the backside with a large zoomfactor. There are no signs present refering to this tank turret. I'll be returning soon to inform about this turret and perhaps kindly ask to be able to approach it.
A quick search of the net didn't deliver any answers this far...

There are some plans to expand the accessible part of the museum (nowadays only 1/3 of all structures and trenches on the domain can be visited), but their awaiting some approvals from the environmental gouvernment agencies and the airport of Ostend. Yesterday I was told by one of the surveillors (ex belgian miltair) that their awaiting approval to from the airport to re-assemble the radar and place it upright on a traincarriage. (nowadays the radarshutle, the cabin and the railwaycar are laying seperated from each other)...
So perhaps in the near future we'll learn more about this tankturret during a visit to the domain... awaiting this time, I will already try and inform about it with the surveillors of the domain on my next visit.
