Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Interesting photo! Was the corrugated metal put there as some kind of camouflage or just to keep the rain out (assuming the cupola was missing and isn't what's sticking out the top)?

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Hi,
I found a "mysterious" description in a demilitarization-record about a gun at the Panzertruppenschule Putlos (artillery training ground for German tanks units). There was written:
"Target No. SH 1264: Located on the site [at Putlos] is a large steel revolving gun turret 10 metres high by 2,5 metres diameter bu [??] 50 cm thick with a howitzer on a special concrete and steel base 4 metres square by 5 metres deep. There is neither used nor needed by occupying unit. Recommondations: detroy the turret and base by explosives and salvage the steel."
Has someone an idea, what this "mysterious" target was ?
Regards
oliver

Sounds very promising , Oliver
Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
If that area was a Wa.Fest. test site like Hillersleben, I'd say the description could hint at a 92,1P9 (Pz.-Drehturm für 10 cm K.T. u. MG 34) or one of it's variants. The dimensions are roughly the same.

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
According to my sources (BAMA) there should be 92,1 P9 mounted there.
I had no proof it was instaled be if You have report of de-assembling/demolition works so it was really there!

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
This tank turret looks to me a French ST2 from a Char D1 tank , I never seen this type of turret in the Atlantikwall before ?
The photo should be from Middelkerke ( Belgium ) and is from Etienne Morin .
