Sturm78´s mail of 09.01.2015:

Original text for SA 56810 is "Järeä (8 tuuman) ammus , painoa n 94 kg. Sirkiänsaari 1941.10.14", in English "heavy (8 inch) shell, weight 94 kg. Sirkiänsaari 1941.10.14"

In general, it would save some trouble if anybody posting SA pictures would also copy the original text; thanks in advance. As in this case, the correct answer was there in Finnish, all the time.

The only SA shell closely corresponding to this is "203 tkr 24/31-Ra", where "Ra" refers to "Ranskalainen" i.e. French.

Hello,

For the 1st january 2015 photograph posted by "sturm78", they are 400 mm shells for ALVF 400 mm modèle 1915 Saint-Chamond.
The photograph is taken to the "dépôt de munitions d'ALGP du Petit-Blangy" in the Somme and the date is summer 1916. The 400 mm howitzers were used for the first time during the attack in the Somme of 1st july 1916.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

Just like the last time, the answer included to the photo caption. Hence, the next time could you copy it as well - like veeteetee already requested once.
Original photo caption:
"12 tuuman tykin tykkitorni, sisältä.
Örö 1941.10.27"

"12-inch gun turret from the inside
Örö Island, 27th of October 1941".
