Thanks, Jos. Very interesting !

I wonder if the "8,8 cm Flak" shots mentioned could have come from a "Bufla" firing from the top of the hill instead of a regular 8,8 cm Flak gun. :?

Emmanuel

P.S. I forgot to mention that the picture comes from an expired ebay auction.

Here a other Ebay picture from concrete exhaust , please note the cammouflage , that did not work .

(1) Lot of these turrets recieved a lot of direct hits , for instance Fort Flemelle was surrended
because the turret ( airventilation ) was badly hit and was no fresh air could be sucked-in .

(2) In the Denkschrift these units were named that attacked the forts in Namur
Pz. Jäger- Abt 211 ( maybe 8.8 cm ) and 1till 3./Res. Flak Abt 363 ( 8.8 cm )

Thanks, Jos. I don't think that Pz. Jäger- Abt 211 was equipped with either 8,8 cm Flak (since it was not a Heeres Flak unit :? ) or Bufla in Mai 1940 as the self-propelled version of Bufla was with schwere Panzer-Jäger-Abteilung 8 and the towed version with s.Panzerjäger-Abteilungen 525 - 560 & 605 (AFAIK).

So, it would leave the "regular" 8,8 cm Flak of Res. Flak Abt 363 then to act as surrogate Bunkerflak! 8-)

Air tower in 3D

#94

Post by wimve » 19 Jun 2012, 19:48

I am trying to make a 3D of this, strange, air intake/exhaust tower of Firt Malonne in Belgium.
But I can't get the stairs and the elevator (Aufzug) in the 220m central tower.

Does anyone have some pictures or better a drawing ?

I think it is Russian, so called "Belinsky type" two storey bunker. It was built in Polocki defensive region near village Cernorucje. Only one exemplar was built during 1928. I´ve read that it was demolished in the years before WWII. But it seems, that this photo is wartime (German staff car).

Thanks KaiserChief

I could not place it in the A.W. , so that is a good option .
