What are Waffen Prü bunkers Jos? :)
From the Entwicklungsbericht?
Is this a Unterstand WaKoFest like in the Channel Islands?

I'll check my photos from the Channel Islands.
I can remember them having Antenna niches all the time in the entrance.
But also extra ones in the actual entrance near the stairs.
I only saw periscope holes in the part of your drawing.

The UWaKostand on Biberkopf (Alderney) has a periscopetube in the Gasschleusse.
Just like the 621 of Cap Blanc Nez.

Hi Jos,

I have never seen a periscope fitted into room 4 (Ventilation) in the examples where they are accessable. :o

This is the point where the 1.2m3 air pump is always fixed to the wall so the periscope/air pump would be in the way of each other. In the photo you can see the air pump mountings on the example at Stp. Biberkopf, Alderney.

Seems a bit pointless to mount a periscope at that point as the slope of the bunker roof would restrict a 360 view :?

I love these bunkers :D There are querky differences to the way 600's are constructed locally 8-) like having 2 entrances but also an escape shaft, and no practical form of entrance defence.

I note that the 'Twin group shelter' example is listed as constructed in the Channel Islands! :o

(What is Nr. 29 on the plans???)

Hi Jos,

They have antenna niches on each side of the (main) entrance door into the gas lock. See photo below from bunkersite. I have seen one example on Alderney (Hafen-Süd) that had the antenna etc installed 8-)

Normally a 434P01 would be fitted here and not the 19p7 as in this example on Guernsey.

The two 2 entrances actually lead to just one entrance to the bunker.
The whole portal in front could be seen as a covered trench, or a waste of concrete ;)

Jack, couldn't be in the gaslock. Do you mean the portal where it's always is?

Here's a pic of an antenna niche in an U.WaKo of Wn Perleberg, Guernsey.

Not so with Jersey's U/WaKoFest's :)
Have just checked out the 3 examples where the entrances are open and none of them have extra antenna recesses by the entrance steps to the outside. Only on each side of the 434P01 door leading to the gas lock.

Interestingly the location of 1 of the 11 U/WaKofest's constructed on Jersey is unknown :o

Some more pics showing the Northern U/WaKoFest at Wn. Lewis Tower with a shot of each entrance and also the entrance to the gas lock with antenna recesses on each side of the door way

Looks like the extra antenna recesses are an adaptation on the U/WaKoFest's found on Guernsey (and Alderney?) but was not added to the examples on Jersey :)

I must rephrase my post.

But some also have extra ones in the actual entrance near the stairs.

Hi AvB,

Thought it might have been a nice extra touch on all the Guernsey examples

Hope to get the U/WaKoFest at Stp. Corbiere under the wing of the CIOS one day. The photo below shows it after the war with the 606 in the back ground This image was published as a post card :o . There is, already, a partly restored example on Alderney :)
