Hello
At it again. I have Found a couple of pictures on Ebay.de of Rommel together with a couple of SS officers.
Could it be from one of his visits at the FHQ ?
And anyone for ID of the officers and maybe location and date / year?

Regards
Kurt

Hello Kurt

Looks to me Erwin Tzschoppe ( Stp.gr Scheveningen ) on the last picture and the first photo looks a lot like SS-Obersturmführer on the other picture's during the visit of Rommel at Scheveningen .

Hello

Jos - that seems to be right, and that narrows the timeframe.

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 90&start=0

12.08.1943 - 01.01.1945 Kommandeur des Verteidigungsstabes Scheveningen

Rommel was in Holland between 2nd and 5th of january 1944 and visited Scheveningen 3rd of january 1944

You mean that both pictures are from that event. If so the other officer could be of Erwin Tzschoppe´s staff.

PS: The pictures are not present in Hans Sakkers book about Rommel!!

Kurt

Hello

Would that be the only place where the command of the coastal forces was with the SS?

Hi Kurt

I had some offline contact with Tim a while ago about this picture ,
we both agree that the house looks very typical Dutch but we do not
know were it's exact was build.

Hello

There is some reecemplance with Christiansen - so most likely it is him.

Hello

I have a curious question - do anyone know if Rommel ever took off alone in the staffcar with our chauffeur of guards etc.??

I have this entry in the KTB by Rommel himself from the Inspection in Denmark (Rommels notes):

Quote:

Tagesbericht vom 13. Dezember 1943

Morgens allein mit dem Wagen an die Küste bei Henne (Rückfahrt Tarm - Herning).
13.00 Uhr wieder in Silkeborg, wo General von Hannecken sich bei mir verabschiedet.

Unquote

Any opinions, please.

Kurt

Sounds like it Kurt! It sounds like something Rommel would do..

There is a possibility the pictures were taken at christiansens mansion "fliegerhorn" in Wassenaar.
I shall look for pictures, there are some in the book about Wassenaar..

Hi Tim

I don't know if the Fliegerhorn (Groot Haesebroek ) was still the mansion of Christiaansen in 1944
here a other option http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... =Tzschoppe

Hi Jos, sharp thinking, christiansen should have been moved east in 1944, right?
I dont know if he was already transferred to there in march when rommel visited the sector.

Another option: opposite the 608 on the Badhuisweg there was a villa were tzschoppe housed. Unfortunately the villa don't exist anymore.. Rommel did visit the verteidigungsstab on his second trip.

But its a needle in a haystack.

Hello

It was in January 1944 Rommel visited Tzschoppe (3 january 1944). In march her did not visit him, but in both cases he was with Christiansen.

So it would be january 44.

The villa in question (Groot Haesebroeck), is it this one??
