Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Hi Kurt, Rommel visited Scheveningen 2 times
I think thats indeed "fliegerhorn".

Hello
These pictures from "Rommel-lebt" http://www.rommel-lebt.com
Indicates that Rommel visited Helgoland in April 1944 - but I do not seem to find any proof for that?
Any one know IF Rommel visited Helgoland?
General Trierenberg would indicate Holland, Ijmuiden:
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Per ... enther.htm
Marine Flak 242 could be a clue, though!
Marine-Flak-Abteilung 242
Aufgestellt im August 1939 auf Helgoland beim Marine-Abschnitt Helgoland.
Kommandeure:
August 1939 Kapitänleutnant Troll
März 1940 Korvettenkapitän M.A. Hermann Weber
September 1942 Korvettenkapitän M.A. Dr. Titzck
Oktober 1943 Fregattenkapitän Erwin Schneider
So there is some false informations here that does not correspond??
And if not Helgoland - where are these pictures from? I think Gen. d. Flieger Christiansen on the pictures?
Regards
Kurt

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Hello
All in all it corresponds with Rommels visit 24.2.1944 in Nord Holland and it could be in the area of K.V.A Schagen??
Any one who can tell if that is correct??
But where does Marine Flak Abteilung 242 come from??
Regards

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Kurt i think you are right about kva Schagen.
The houses in the back look like julianadorp, southern front of verteidigungsbereich Den Helder..
But it's possible there were similar houses along other landfronten in KVA Schagen.
EDIT: i cant find the exact houses on old pictures of julianadorp, but the pictures with panzergraben and the house dont have to be on the ecxact same spot.
there are for sure houses like that in VB Den Helder!
Gr, Tim.

Re: Rommel - inspecting the Atlantikwall.
Not at the atlantikwall and not Rommel himself , but near his command post at La Roche-Guyon
You can see the old castle in the upper left corner , the river Seine , the "new" chateau was build
in front of the old castle at ground level.
Picture = Ebay

Several underground tunnels were also made in the rock behind the chateau during the war.
