Hello

A picture with Rommel and von Schwerin (not sure if it is Atlanticwall, or maybe France 1940)?

Hello

Came across a "hard rumor" that some within the Danish resistance would have killed Rommel during his visit in Denmark in 1943.

But that some other with connections to England did not want that, so they arranged for an agent (British commando) to keep the Danish resistance calm.

But I find that hard to believe. The Wehrmachtsbefehlshaber Dänemark and General von Hanneken did not know of Rommels visit before the last moment, so how would any other now and have the time to put an agent in action???

The information schould come from the source of an high ranking person (now dead) within the Danish resistance, but there is nothing in writing, just verbal!!

There were an sabotage attempt on Rommels train in Aalborg, while Rommel was away on Seeland / Copenhagen - but it failed.

Have any here ever heard of that the Allies wanted to kill Rommel (deliberate assasination)??

I am very curious to hear if any one knows someting about this subject :)

Regards
Kurt

Hello Kurt

If it it's Gerhard Graf von Schwerin it must be 1944, please see his medals ( Swords and Oak Leaves )
commander of the 116 Pz.Div. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerhard_von_Schwerin

Regards Jos

P.S. I can't help you with your second question .

Hello Jos

Thanks for the answer. Yes that also fits with Rommels "Marschallstab" - so not 1940 :)

My second question is not only regarding Denmark - but in General.

Hello

As it is a propaganda Photo it can be retouched for camouflage purpose to conseal the location.

Is there no one who can recognize the concrete?

Could be a "Panzermaur"?

No one for the location :)

Hello

Etienne, thanks - that could be an option, do you have other pictures with that soldier from Quinéville you mention?

If Quinéville, what Stp. / Wn would that be?

And Rommel visited the Quinneville area and HKB 4/.1261 at 10th of may 1944, he also the same day visited Wn. 34?
