Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
Hi,
I saw this pic on Ebay.
I think that there is other photo which shows not lowered back sides-chassis is visible.
It looks like the same as for Wurzburg D radar.
Perhaps it is standarized Sd.Anh.
Will look for other photo and provide it later.

I think it's 2 cm MG ST 5 rather than 2 cm MG C/30. C/30 did not have a vertical cocking handle like the one in the picture.

There is an ex-eBay photo of a similar-looking cannon towed by a Krupp L 3 H 63 truck near the bottom of http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... start=1830

Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
Hi Andrew, thank you very much for your photo.
Anyone know if this combination of 2cm Flak gun and trailer is a standard weapon or an improvisation?
Luftwaffe, Heer or Kriegsmarine??
I guess these photos are taken before the war, no?
Regards Sturm78.

Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
the gun was used on many places in different ways. it could be modified with a mount and stuck on a trailer and towed or put on a half track to offer defence againgst aircraft and vehicles. and the 4 guns could be put together as a 'flakverling' configuration. it was also used on u-boats,fortifications and as seen in the picture, a warship. but it had a low rate of fire for its size and was soon replaced with the 20mm oerlikon and 37mms.
Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
Hi all,
I'm increasingly confused with the 2cm German anti-aircraft weapons.
I bought the book "German 20mm Flak in WW2" of Werner Muller. In this book there are informations and photos of 2cm MG C30L in Sockel Laffete 30L and this weapon is not like the guns of my photos nor classic 2cm Flak C30 or C38 of naval use.
This weapon have a large drum magazine under the barrel and the pivot mount have not a handwheel for raising or lowering the column an gun
According to this book "in 1931 the Reichwehr`s first AA units were equiped with two 2cm weapons, the Flak28 Oerlikon and the MG C30L in the SL30L pedestal mount.... Transportable versions of this weapon had the pedestal mounted on a outrigger-type gun mount, which was covered by a sheet-metal platform. Two sides of it were capable of being folded up while in travelling position on a twin-axle special trailer"
This description of the book is consistent with the photos that I placed in this post and also with Andrew photo, but the weapon is not the same.
I put a photo of 2cm MG C30L in SL30L, so you can judge.
On the other hand, the MG C30L in SL30L pedestal mount that appears in this book is not like naval 2cm Flak C30 or C38. Have they something in common or are totally different weapons, despite their similar designation?
I'm confused. Can anyone help me?

Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
i think the germans wasted a lot of their time on 2cms. they couldve developed a nice automatic 37mmm or 30mm. they would have been much more deadly.

Re: 2cm Flak C30 ??
Hi Jopaerya,
You forgot the 2cm MG C38 of naval use.
I have no problems with 2cm MG C30 and MG C38. They are standard 2cm light AA guns of Kriegsmarine.
I have not doubts about the 2cm Flak 30 and Flak38. They are standard 2cm light AA guns of Luftwaffe-Heer.
With regard to 2cm Flak 28 and Flak29 Oerlikon you can see this link for more information: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=149100
The problem are 2cm MG C30L and 2cm Solothurn ST-5 mentioned by Grzesio. I have not seen pictures of 2cm ST-5 and therefore I am very confused about the gun on 2-axles platform of my photos. Have anyone pictures of this gun?
On the other hand maybe the 2cm MG C30L was replaced by 2cm Flak30 in german service no? What is your opinion?
Regards Sturm78
