Hello All

Does somebody know the function of the recess in the roof above the gun in the 680 and 625 .
It must have a important function because it means a lot of extra work during the buildingphase .

Hi Jos,

Is this nomally found in 680's :o as the 680 on Jersey at Wn. Archirondel does not have this recess in the roof! It's now blocked up but you can see a normal girder/plate ceiling above the gun in the photo.

Regards,
Malcolm

hello jos,
I think the ceiling is cut to the passage of a target that exceeds the top of the barrel.
very interesting question I have addressed this idea several times with dirk!

Merci Etienne

Did you also found it in other bunkers then the 625 and 680 , because then it
would mean it had something to do with the PaK guns that were in the bunker .
If you look carefully you can see that the it was placed sometimes on the right
or left side .

as the 680 on Jersey at Wn. Archirondel does not have this recess in the roof!
Same goes for the one and only known R 680 in Norway...
Do you know what type of gun they used in "yours"?

hi jos,
for now I can never find the other bunker equipped with this opening was always 680.625 LAG and change ....

I also noted that the group opened some years ago as a result this change in the roof there is not a bad guy because often LAG chamber is kampfraum change.

Hi guys, Maybe it was for the guntube, when a gun was not in use the guntube could be raised and there was more space to move.
On the other hand it could also be for the gun, i can imagine that because there were blocks behind the "legs" that a gun when fired would hop up and the could be damaged, maybe that bit more space could prevent it.
Greetings Jack.

hi jack,
agreement, but the window is always top-center then is not for the tube as the barrel is always at the center of kampfraum.
I really think a body cover which attaches to the pack.
