In the area of the battery Sommi Picenardi in Piombino there is a small natural museum.

If I remember well the battery had 4 152mm guns and the 90/53 has nothing to deal with the battery.

Four guns 152/45, built on the Punta del Falcone in the late Twenties.
Dedicated to the memory of the gold medal Galeazzo Picenardi, fallen in the explosion of the battleship Leonardo Da Vinci
The 90/53 gun was actually present in 3 pieces at the Falcone area, during WW2.
They were placed in the post armistice (8 settembre 1943) by Kriegsmarine and served by a mixed German-Italian crew.

As we know well, my friend Sidescanner :D , in Italy is very difficult to find coastal batteries & fortifications valued as a museum of military history...so the Picenardi Battery is a site that is pleasant to visit.

Here is a picture from ebay.de. It looks like one the 152/43 guns at Punta Falcone. What do you think?

Hello

Here a other picture of a 90/53 gun , according to the photocaption it's a American
paratrooper from the 82 A.D. so it should be taken in Sicily or Salerno ??
